Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

Large construction projects that could alter the environment must be assessed at an early stage to determine their impact. Protecting people is very important in this context. We ensure that these assessments also take human health into account.

What

We participate in planning processes where an environmental impact assessment (EIA) is required by law. In doing so, we pay attention to how construction projects affect human health. Of particular importance to us are potential impacts from

  • noise,
  • air pollution,
  • vibrations,
  • odours,
  • electromagnetic fields.

We examine both the construction phase and the period after the project is operational, and also take accidents or malfunctions into account.

Who benefits from our work?

Our work protects the health of people who live or work near large construction projects or industrial facilities. We are committed to minimising any negative effects on the population.
We support planners and decision-makers in public and private construction projects that require an environmental impact assessment. When it comes to construction projects with an environmental impact assessment, we are automatically involved in the process. We ensure that health concerns are taken into account at an early stage of planning.

What is the legal basis?

Our work is based on the Environmental Impact Assessment Act (UVPG) and the Public Health Service Act of the State of Bremen (ÖGDG). We base our assessments on legal requirements and current scientific findings.
