Construction

We are involved in many construction projects to protect people's health. This applies to both new buildings and renovations, especially in kindergartens, schools, medical facilities, drinking water systems and swimming pools.

What

We perform a variety of tasks to protect the health of everyone who lives, works or studies in Bremen.

  • We check construction projects to see if they affect people's health.
  • We issue written recommendations and written requirements and consult with architects and planners at an early stage to avoid potential health risks.
  • We have developed special standards for schools and kindergartens, for example for ventilation, noise protection and building materials, to ensure safe and healthy buildings.

Our work is aimed at building owners, architects, facility operators and the relevant authorities. We work closely with other agencies to ensure that construction projects are planned and implemented in a way that is safe for health. We pay particular attention to protecting the health of children, school pupils, patients and older people in facilities such as nurseries, schools and hospitals. That is why we are involved in projects such as schools, nurseries and medical facilities from the very beginning.

What is the legal basis?

Our work is based on the Infection Protection Act (IfSG) and the Public Health Service(ÖGDG) Act. These laws give us the task of ensuring that construction projects comply with hygiene standards and protect people's health.
