Environmental hygiene in daycare centres, schools and community facilities

Schools, daycare centres, sports halls and other community facilities play a central role in the lives of children, young people and club members. The rooms and outdoor facilities should not pose any health risks. We take care of these so-called environmental hygiene matters in these facilities.

What

We are committed to ensuring that children, young people and club members are not exposed to environmental health risks in community facilities such as schools, daycare centres and sports halls. This is what we do:

• On an ad hoc basis: If problems such as mould, pollutants, unpleasant odours, overheated rooms or poor acoustics arise in a facility, we provide advice. On request, we visit the site, investigate the situation and provide expert recommendations on how to remedy the problem.
• Preventively: When schools, daycare centres or sports facilities are being built or renovated, we make demands and give recommendations during the planning and approval process to avoid health risks (see statements on construction projects).
• Proactive: We take action when new scientific findings indicate that there is a health risk. In such cases, we contact the persons or institutions concerned and advise them on how to proceed.
