We support people with mental illness and/or addiction in the city of Bremen. Our goal is to help shape a needs-based regional support and care system that enables and supports self-determined participation in social life.
We coordinate, manage and develop various needs-based support services. In our work, we attach particular importance to involving relatives and the people receiving care.
We are committed to helping people with mental illness and/or addiction and aim to improve care structures through our work. If we succeed, our work will help those in need of care, their families and also the employees of the social psychiatric care system.
What does community psychiatry actually mean?
Since the publication of the report on the state of psychiatry in the Federal Republic of Germany (Psychiatry Enquiry) in 1975, the psychiatric and addiction care system has undergone significant development, including in Bremen. The guiding principle of "social psychiatry" is particularly noteworthy in this context. The term "social psychiatry" encompasses concepts of regional networking to establish user-oriented, community-based and participatory care structures."Community psychiatry" is thus an expression of the successful implementation of "social psychiatry". Essentially, the aim is to enable people with (severe) mental illness and/or addiction disorders in crisis to receive treatment in their familiar surroundings (community-based) with the involvement of their social environment (trialogue) and to avoid long-term inpatient (out-of-home) treatment. The aim is to develop needs-based, regionally networked services that can be accessed easily and flexibly within the framework of cross-sector financing (across social welfare legislation) and . The further development of home treatment services is particularly relevant in this context.
