Health professionals in schools (GefaS)

We work at 26 primary schools in Bremen and Bremerhaven. Our goals are to strengthen knowledge about health and healthy behaviour among primary school children and their families. In schools, we offer programmes on nutrition, exercise, personal hygiene, psychosocial health and media use. We help to make the school environment healthier and bring programmes from the neighbourhoods into the schools. For a healthy future for everyone.

What do we do?

• Strengthening health knowledge: We inform children, families and teachers about health-related topics. We offer learning units and projects in schools.
• Advice: We advise parents and families of primary school children on health issues.
• Creating a healthy school: We help to create an environment that promotes health.
• Improving health opportunities: It is important to us to offer more opportunities for health, especially in neighbourhoods with few resources.
• Building networks: We establish contacts with other important players in the neighbourhood to promote health together.

Who is this service for?

The service is aimed at children, their families and school staff at the 26 selected primary schools.
