Children's and Youth Health

We are the Child and Youth Health Service and the School Medical Service and look after the health of children and young people in Bremen. We work on behalf of government agencies, schools and nurseries. We check that children are developing appropriately for their age. Many of our examinations are based on a legal requirement. We invite children and young people to come in for examinations, for example for school entrance examinations. We offer our examinations at various locations throughout Bremen.

What do we do?

Our teams take care of many tasks. For example:

  • Examinations for children who are new to the country and attending a German school for the first time
  • Examinations for children and young people who have been out of school for a long time
  • Examinations of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers
  • Early detection examinations to check whether children are developing healthily
  • Commitment to children's health in important committees
